Forty years ago Robert Kennedy was still alive and running for President. This month, Vanity Fair excerpts Thurston Clark’s book about the campiagn in a story called “The Last Good Campiagn”. Many would say 2008 has been not merely a good but a great campaign, but whatever. The VF story’s photos are by legendary photojournalist Bill Eppridge. The color shots are especially fantastic, and contrast nicely with the Obama shots we see daily. VF calls the images “haunting” but I’d disagree. Rather, Bobby in 68 in color equals America in all her beauty and hope, much like the Obama images of today and Cornell Capa’s pics of JFK on the trail in 1960.
