Iran and the US are fighting increasingly violent proxy wars in Iraq and Lebanon. Today, both Hezzbollah and the Mahdi Army, non-state Shiite militias, called truces in Beirut and Baghdad respectively. The militias are making power moves before the US presidential elections.
