Following a number of superdelegates moving into the Obama camp last week, Hillary suffered another blow when John Edwards said yesterday that “I think you can no longer make a compelling case for the math. The math is very, very hard for her.” Also, “…when this is over, and I think it is likely, certainly, at this point that Senator Obama will be the nominee…” Sounds like Edwards really did mean “him” and not “‘em.”
Edwards said he admired Hillary’s strength and determination in a tough contest, but his comments suggested that he thinks Hillary should either drop out soon or at least not divide by the party by taking her fight to the convention.
“I think the one thing that she has to be careful about - and she doesn’t need my advice, she knows this full well - is that…if she makes the case for herself, which she’s entitled, completely entitled to do, she has to be really careful that she’s not damaging our prosepcts, the Democratic party and our cause for the fall.”
Edwards also said that Hillary’s “white Americans” remark could have been the result of primary-fatigue, and he was “sure she feels like she didn’t choose her words very well there.”
At some point between now and June 3, or hopefully May 20th, Hillary will heed his advice.
