Dennis Kucinich reads impeachment articles, is #1 vegan ass kicker

In the video, (borrowed from crooksandliars.com) just before he takes the podium you can faintly hear him say “I’m gonna go for it”.

Dennis Kucinich indeed goes for “it” and by “it” I mean 35 articles of impeachment against George Bush. This is the carefully crafted case against the two criminals who have nearly destroyed our country (and a few other in the process, but I guess I don’t need to explain it to this crowd).

He begins to state his intent… “the form of the resolution is as follows…” as the sounds of pasty white grey haired grown babies mumble and grumble behind him… “THE HOUSE IS NOT IN ORDER!” he demands. And with a few clacks of the gavel, they quiet down momentarily.

He read them all to a pretty much empty and mostly hostile house… all 35 reasons (even though there’s at least a hundred) to impeach the bastard. The blogosphere is alive and mainstream news is sleeping as usual so… Watch the video - cspan_kucinich_impeachment_articles_080609a.mov

Here’s to you Dennis! The tofu is on us.

Dowd. So Hot Right Now.

The Times’ resident man-eater, Maureen Dowd, has a good column today on Hillary giving BARACK OBAMA: THE SEXIEST MAN OF ALL TIME a little schooling in the art of presidential politics.

Whether or not she wins, Hillary has already given noble service as a sophisticated political tutor for Obama, providing her younger colleague with much-needed seasoning. Who else was going to toughen him up? Howard Dean? John Edwards? Dennis Kucinich?

Obama had not been hit hard until this campaign; he sailed through his Senate race. Without Hillary, he never would have learned to be a good debater. He never would have understood how to robustly answer distorted and personal attacks. He never would have been warned about how harmful an unplugged spouse can be. He never would have realized how a luminous speech can be effective damage control.

Yuck:

Hillary has clearly raised Obama’s consciousness about the importance of courting the ladies. Touring a manufacturing plant in Allentown, Pa., Tuesday, he was flirtatious, winking and grinning at the women working there, calling one “Sweetie,” telling another she was “beautiful,” and imitating his daughters’ dance moves by twirling around.

Later, at a Scranton town hall, he went up to Denise Mercuri, a pharmacist from Dunmore wearing a Hillary button. “What do I need to do? Do you want me on my knees?” he charmed, before promising: “I’ll give you a kiss.

Go Hillz!

One of the most valuable lessons the gritty Hillary can teach the languid Obama — and the timid Democrats — is that the whole point of a presidential race is to win.

Achtung! Politicians Aren’t That Cool

All of the political fellatio/cunnilingus in the media has reminded me that politicians are still assholes at heart. Whether its artists trying to turn Obama into a Che Guevara commodity or washed up actors/lame sports fans (Jack Nicholson) making ads for Hillz, its all corny.

Ron Paul is a racist prick/faux populist, Dennis Kucinich seriously cares about UFOs, John McCain is just straight up fucking crazy, Hillary is a sleazy, money grubbing businesswoman and Obama is a sexyman with a nice smile who’s done nothing but pat himself on the back for not voting on things when he wasn’t even in Washington yet. The list could literally go on forever. Anyone who thinks these candidates will stick to all of the platforms they’re selling is fooling themselves.

That said, I love politics. I just don’t think the smoke and mirrors routine of making politicians out to be saviors is accurate. To successfully do business in Washington, Moscow, Islamabad or wherever, you have to be a lying scumbag. We elect these people to do our dirty work. Every time I vote*, I know I’m selling myself out a little bit, but that’s just how it goes. Spare me the politician as studly everyman/down to earth housemom schtick.

*my prez election voting record sucks…Clinton ‘96 (still back that one), Nader ‘00 (what the fuck was I thinking?), Kerry ‘04 (had to vote for someone besides GW).

caucus caca and the next steps

On the Democratic side, I don’t think there was a big surprise about who was going to be in the top three. My predictions had the order stacked in reverse with John Edwards going strong and steady in second place and Hillary Clinton in the first position, though I’m much happier with Barack Obama’s win.

But I have to give some credit to Dennis Kucinich who urged his supporters to stand behind Obama. My fiancé explained the significance of a principled character reference at such a crucial time from a person that we both believe would be the best for America.

She said, “Kucinich is one of the few honest politicians and he’s a lot smarter than I am. If he says I should support Obama, then maybe it’s a good idea.” I agree, and I think the Iowans did too. I just wish Kucinich had a better chance at winning the presidency.

Joe Biden and Chris Dodd dropping out of the race is bittersweet. They are both experienced and intelligent politicians who’ve been around for a long time and still have a lot to offer. That’s why they need to get right back to work in the Senate with a full-throttle nothing-to-lose strategy. Put every option back on the table, call every bluff, exploit every rule, investigate every scandal and punish every obstructionist. One thing I hate about this campaign is how much effort (and money) is wasted strategizing for popularity points instead of fighting for progressive policy that will help the country and repair this badly damaged government.

I believe that Democrats like Joe Biden, Chris Dodd and Dennis Kucinich can open a can of whoop-ass that will rally the base and win the trust of those coveted independents – these people want strong leadership. Each one of them, including Bill Richardson will make great cabinet members and/or future congress leadership later but for now, this is the best way they can help get a Democrat elected.

Mike Gravel… maybe, I’d party with him. The crazy ones always have the good drugs. Other than that, he’s done.

The Republican field is still laughable
but Huckabee is actually starting to worry me. The religious right can really get behind a guy like the Huckster. (That was a gay joke)

Romney is destined to run out of money and implode eventually, but he’ll get his own planet when he dies so that’s cool.

Thompson is a corpse, he’s “Weekend At Bernie’s” without the sight gags. Did he really get this far on hype alone?

McCain… see Romney - minus the comment about his own planet. Maybe that baptism he was talking about will help his numbers.

Rudy is in the toilet. It’s time to quit now before inquiries into his past business practices/sex life gets him into real trouble.

As for the moneymaking underdog that is Ron Paul. Though it seems unlikely, I sincerely wish that he were nominated. Not just because I want to see Sean Hannity’s head explode. Because Ron Paul is the only Republican (I use that term loosely, of course) who makes one bit of sense when he opens his mouth and is comfortable stating a concise position on the issues. (Unless he’s talking about shutting down most governmental agencies) The mainstream media hates this guy, but the people love him. So I’m rooting for him.
